LIGHT LANGUAGE
Dec 8th, 10am-5pm (with one hour lunch break)
FACILITATED BY: Fumiha Tanaka & Manu River DelPrete
In-person workshop in Union Square area, Manhattan, New York
Exchange: Sliding Scale of $88-$222
Manu and I are very excited to teach our very first light language class! We have been connecting with and practicing light language for the past 2 years. We have witnessed the healing power of this light and we both incorporate it in our healing sessions with clients, daily spiritual activities and prayer. Now we feel the strong calling to share the tools for this amazing practice with you all.
Light language is a vibrational language that we simply download from channeling different sources of consciousness. It’s a frequency that we receive through our physical vessel and express through our voice, movement and writing. Such frequencies are beyond the limitations of what we understand as “language” in our society and when used they can fine tune our physical vessel, activate our ancient gifts, heal and restore our emotional, mental and spiritual light bodies and clear physical spaces like rooms or homes.
This class is for somebody who desire to:
- speak light language
- discover different ways in which you can use light language
- restore and uplift frequency for self, others and places
- communicate with your soul
- receive pure light frequency from different sources, spiritual guides, star groups and deities assisting Earth
- break through the human conditioning
- expand the vibration of love and harmony
- activate throat chakra and discover your own voice
- remove limitations and tap into innate power
And of course, we will also invite plant guides to support us in this process!
This class is for everyone who is curious about light language!
What to bring:
Water bottle
Nourishing food, beverage or snack to share with your community
Comfortable clothing
Things to add to the collective altar
Journal & pen (or whatever else you want to use to write)

Riding the DRAGONS through Fall Equinox + Eclipse portal
Sept 13th 6-9pm
FACILITATED BY: Fumiha Tanaka & Nami
Plant guide : Goldenrod
In-person workshop at Grand Street Healing Project
Equinox is the time where Yin and Yang are in a balance of power, and Eclipse season is known to be a dragon’s portal where the thinning of the veil between the seen and unseen worlds happens. The Eclipse portal opening up in September and October holds potential for profound changes, and it is an opportunity for us to step into our own power of magic.
In this workshop, Nami and Fumiha come together to hold space to strengthen our inner visions and to deepen our connections to our spirit dragons. We will talk about planetary alignments of the fall and the rest of the year, and meet our local plant guide for this season, Goldenrod, Solidago canadensis spp. Goldenrod is a plant that supports us to ride through transitions, and with the light of Goldenrod within, we will explore the deeper state of consciousness through breath, somatic experience and sound journey. Let us come together to ride the back of the dragons to move through this potent portal for radical transformation.
Breathwork:
Breath is the conduit of life and consciousness. Many cultures utilized breath as a way to heal and to connect with the deeper understanding Self.
Breathwork is a somatic modality that can help us access and process feelings, memories, energies that are stored in our bodies while also achieving spiritual expansion. In our session, we will work through different conscious diaphragmatic breathing techniques, incorporating the use of your voice and movement of your body.
For those who are pregnant, or have conditions such as epilepsy, glaucoma, high blood pressure without medication, or cardiovascular conditions, and if you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Fumiha at fmtishere@gmail.com prior to the workshop.

“Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.” - Robin Wall Kimmerer
We believe that of all the crises that are ongoing at the moment, perhaps the biggest one is a crisis of love. As we’ve become more atomized, we’ve forgotten how to love each other. As we’ve become less embodied, we’ve forgotten how to love ourselves. As we’ve lost connection to the land, we’ve forgotten how to love the earth. And each loss impacts the other. This has a profound impact. As it is love that reveals truth. It is love that leads to growth. It is love that makes magic happen. It is love that moves us from seeking domination over to seeking kinship with.
This series is meant to move beyond the mainstream notions of love. Instead, it is designed to support us in centering love for ourselves and to see our interconnectedness. It is also not meant to suggest that every crisis we are moving through will miraculously transform because of our belief in love. Instead, it is to provide a pathway to vulnerability, healing, and liberation, both individually and collectively in the midst of these crises; and respond to them with a foundation of love, so that we do not tragically replicate that which we are trying to change. It is time to remember what we’ve forgotten. This is how we get free.
What to bring (Concrete floor - be sure to bring something to be comfortable):
Water bottle
Comfortable clothing
Things to add to the collective altar (you will take these items back with you)

Mini Retreat
3:3 REBIRTH PORTAL: PREPARING FOR
SPRING EQUINOX + ECLIPSES
Sunday, March 3, 2024
1:00 - 5:00 PM
Kamau Studios, 20 Jay Street, 11th floor, Brooklyn, NY, 11201 (map)
It's been pure joy to hold a space with my fellow Japanese witches, Aki Hirata Baker , Nami at MINKA! Our first offering, and last in-person offering of this year with Aki until 2025, will be at wonderful Kamau Studio.
We will celebrate her bon voyage as she prepares for a year of ancestral spiritual work in her native country of Japan, and to celebrate the new beginning, as we approach the Spring season.
3 is a number that represents the principle of expansion, growth and abundance. It is ruled by the energy of Jupiter, and Jupiter plays a key role in the spring as we prepare for the spring equinox and the first eclipses of the year. One of the biggest astrological events of 2024 is Jupiter Uranus conjunction that only happens once in every 13 years. It’s happening this year on April 20th, and it’s time for us to start preparing for this rare expansive opportunity of SPRING 2024.
A plant guide we invite here for this event is dandelion, Taraxacum Officinale. We will meet this resilient plant with a strong life force, the energy of spring, and dive into the Breathwork to let the medicine of dandelion to expand and transform what we have contemplated all winter into the clear action from our true center.
We will conclude this ceremony with the sound and drum journey into the realm of the trees to energetically connect with the wood element of the season in traditional Chinese Medicine, rooting down to the idea of ‘who I am”.
This mini-retreat will include:
Astrological forecast for the spring: spring equinox, solar & lunar eclipse, Jupiter Uranus conjunction
Meeting with the medicine of dandelion and spring energy
Gentle movement with solar plexus activation
Breathwork
Sound & drum journey
Grounding & sharing
Optional work with plant medicine microdose (please email soulflowermedicine@protonmail.com for access and information prior to the session)

with Reiki and guidance by plants
Dates: 2/23, 4/6, 6/6, 8/8, 10/10 & 12/12
6-8pm
Facilitated by Gerald Mitchell & Fumiha Tanaka from MINKA Brooklyn
I'm very excited to announce this Bi-monthly workshop that includes all the thing I love, Breathwork, Plant talk, and Reiki, facilitating with my dear friend, Gerald Mitchell. Each month, we will Breath to explore Love dedicated to different theme. I will of course invite and introduce a plant who guide us through this process.
Our first session is coming up very soon 2/23/24 at Grand Street Healing Project, and we are Breathing for Unconditional LOVE with ROSE medicine.
How does unconditional love show up in your life?
How does unconditional love form in your life?
Is unconditional love universal? Is universal love unconditional?
What comes to mind when you hear “unconditional love?” Family? Friends? Pets? Earth? Self?
Is it challenging to trust if there are any?
What is the sensation of unconditional love?
Join us to explore unconditional love with the guidance of breath and medicine of Rose.
Rose medicine: Medicine of Rose says “You are safe”. Rose pulls us back into the heart by teaching us the boundary from safe space. Rose lets us surrender into softness, and calibrates our passion to come back in center by opening the heart.
Breathwork for LOVE series:
“Love takes off the masks we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within.” ~ James Baldwin.
“Of all the definitions of love that abound in our universe, a special favorite of mine is “the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth”."~ Bell Hooks
“It’s not possible to constantly hold onto crisis. You have to have the love, you have to have the magic. That’s also life.” ~ Toni Morrison
We believe that of all the crises that are ongoing at the moment, perhaps the biggest one is a crisis of love. As we’ve become more atomized, we’ve forgotten how to love each other. Deep LOVE Medicine
♡ Sound Bath, Plant Medicine & Somatic♡
with Rose medicine
Facilitated by Ira Rain & Fumiha Tanaka
at Grand Street Healing Project,
Soul siblings Fumiha (she/her) & Ira (they/them) are offering sound, plant medicine, and somatics to hold space for you to commune with love beyond the optics of this month's usual love celebrations -- in deep reverence for the depth of love's essence & medicine, especially as we bear witness to all the pain in the current state of the world.
This ceremony is offered to help you move through personal & collective grief, release stress & stuck energy that you hold in your body, and experience the grounding medicine that connecting with deep love within and around you can bring.
Our plant medicine for this ceremony is the rose. The medicine of the rose invites us to surrender into softness and anchors us into safety by teaching us heart-led boundaries. Through the rose, we will explore leaning into our sensual nature as a doorway to connecting more deeply with love, no matter what kind of love calls out to you in the moment.

2/18, 2024 10 am- 3pm
At ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism (This workshop is open to public)
Miso has been a Japanese staple ingredient for centuries. Miso is made using Koji, Aspergillus Oryze, which is also used to create many other important Japanese ancestral foods such as soy sauce, mirin, and sake. In this workshop, we will explore the intimate dialogue we can create with Koji, a sacred living mold that has been protected and handed down over generations from our ancestors.
Fumiha will introduce ways to use Koji in everyday life, and teach you how to make delicious miso at home. You will spend the day engaging in discussion, tastings, and hands-on learning, and you will leave with homemade miso and new recipes to try!

Brief history of koji and miso from a Japanese perspective.
Introduction to how koji is made.
Ways to incorporate koji into daily life and practice spiritual connection to food.
Demonstration of preparations and steps to make miso without plastic.

Come and join the Three Japanese Witches of MINKA to prepare your body, mind, heart & spirit for 2024!
So many of us have experienced major shifts like no other during 2023. With major lessons come major growth—so let us count our blessings and celebrate each of our accomplishments, while creating a space to heal the wounds and grief from experiencing big changes internally or externally. We heal in community, and in nature, and we will co-create a sacred container for deeply nourishing time together. This will lead to the full celebration of our present selves, seeing everything as a meaningful part of our growth plan in order for us to fully embody our experiences being supported by all the elements seen and unseen.
Numerologically, 2023 was a year of the no.7. Within the Tarot mystical tradition, the 7 is represented by the Chariot and the Tower cards symbolizing our collective energy for trailblazing and sudden and quick change of things that no longer serve us. 2024 is a year of the no.8, a year of the Strength and Star cards. In this retreat, we are healing our nervous system from the numerous changes we have gone through, so we can prepare to align ourselves with our true Strength and the bright shining Star within.

In honor of the Fall Eclipse season, three Japanese Witches of MINKA come together once again. To prepare for the Eclipses and impending season of the Dark, we will spend time together to ground and center ourselves.
Eclipse season is known to be a dragon’s portal where the thinning of the veil between tangible and intangible worlds can be experienced. The two eclipses coming up in October can be quite cathartic, but they hold powerful potential for us to release our old karma to change our fate. This is a time to listen, trust and surrender to the Universe doing their magic. Yet we are the artists of our own lives, and it’s a great time to strengthen our inner vision. Spirits are connecting and working with us even more through this time, so let us be prepared.
In this mini-retreat, we will be taking stock of what we have experienced and learned from big changes we’ve been through as we had 6 planets in retrograde this Summer. Whether you paid attention to it or not, we all have learned tremendously through this experience. We gather to root down what we have gained, and release what is no longer aligned to our truth.
We are living in the time of CHANGE - and the Universe is encouraging us to endeavor into each of our Cosmic Journey. This Journey can be said to be a path of our Spiritual purpose, instead of ones based upon our survival mechanism which has ruled our lives for as long as we can remember. The time to surrender is upon us - and we will meet our guides from the invisible realm and plant for this season to grow strong roots.
This mini-retreat will include:
Astrological forecast for fall Solar & Lunar eclipse
Work with seasonal medical plants to connect with the land we are on
Gentle Movement with throat center activation
Breathwork
Drum Journey
Sound Bath

In part of the Lion's Gate Offerings at MINKA, I am offering Lion's Gate Portal Activation Ceremony with my Japanese witch sister, Aki Hirata Baker on Aug 8th from 6:30-9pm.
Lion’s Gate is a potent activation time for our spiritual growth - it occurs when Earth, our Spiritual Sun, Sirius and Orion Constellation all align in the sky during the season of Leo whose astrological ruler is our Sun. It occurs during the period of July 28th to August 12th, with the height of its activity on August 8th. Along with this astrological energy, August 8th (8/8) is also significant numerologically, bringing in the energy of ‘infinity’ and ‘magic’ - making this one of the most important days to set our spiritual intention.
Sun represents our soul, power, and identity. It is important for us to be connected and polishing our soul so we can show up better to this life we share together. I will be sharing the wisdom of a plant, Motherwort, Leonurus cardiaca, who teaches us to tender our spirit of heart fire. More we connect with our heart, we can speak, and act from our truth and love. With her spirit we will go into breathwork and drum journey, so we can come to a clear intention behind our action that goes beyond what we can imagine.
Come join us for rejuvenation and reset in order for you to align with your spiritual self, with the help of both our Sun and Sirius. They are known to be the Sister stars which have an intimate binary relationship; and we can experience the surge of the spiritual energy offered by Sirius during this time when it is closest to our Solar system.
*If you are joining online, you are required to have your camera on during breathwork.
This workshop will include:
Grounding Movement
Sirius & Merkaba Activation
Breathwork
Drum Journey
Sharing circle
Plant medicine microdose (optional)
Nature’s Medicine : July 28th - 30th 2023
Learn about Chinese herbal medicine and local herbs. We will be exploring the fundamental theories of Chinese medicine while studying the herbs. With plant walks, medicine-making, and camping in the forest, this weekend will give students a chance to learn about and work with the herbs directly.
Nathaniel Whitmore and Richard Mandelbaum both have extensive experience utilizing wild and home-grown herbs in the context of Chinese medicine. This will be a unique experience for all levels of students of American and Chinese medicine.
The main location is "Sennin Dojo" in Glen Spey, NY. Saturday afternoon will be in Forestburg, NY, for a garden tour and medicine-making workshop with Richard Mandelbaum and he will also lead Saturday's campfire session, before opening the discussion to the circle. Fumiha Tanaka will be offering seasonal and medicinal meals.
Facilitators:
Nathaniel Whitmore began studying local wild herbs through the folk-medicine of the area and became involved in Far Eastern medicine through macrobiotics, shiatsu, moxibustion, martial arts, philosophy, and spirituality. He began teaching about wild edible and medicinal plants 20 years ago and has always focused on the use of local herbs through the theories of Chinese medicine.
Richard Mandelbaum has studied with and now teaches for David Winston. He has also studied with Rosemary Gladstar and many other herbalists, been an active member of the American Herbalists Guild for many years, co-founded and teaches for ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism, and teaches regularly in many locations through the New York City and upstate New York region. Richard has maintained a keen interest in Chinese herbal medicine throughout his studies and practice of herbalism. Richard has a consultation practice based at his home in Forestburgh, NY.
Fumiha Tanaka is a graduate of the three year program at Arbor Vitae School of Traditional Herbalism and has also been cooking for Nathaniel Whitmore's herbal apprenticeship for past years. She has been a practitioner of Clinical Herbalism, Flower Essence, Reiki, Energy healings and Conscious Breathwork in Brooklyn New York. She also teaches how to make miso occasionally. When she is not practicing, she draws and writes about all the magicalness of what plants deliver to us.

SUMMER SOLSTICE RETREAT : June 17th 2023
Let us come together to cultivate the energy of the MAGICIAN within, who utilizes 4 elemental energies at will for creation and manifestation.
This day-long ceremony will be held on June 17th, the day of the Dark Moon—an auspicious day for deep reflection. This moon helps with releasing and fertilizing our inner fields. It supports the planting of the seeds for manifestation the energy of, not only our authentic selves, but also draws from the earth and the cosmos, as we invite in all the elements, astrological information, and the energetic support of all the guides who are ready to support us in reaching our potential in this lifetime.
At this time of tremendous change for our earthly existence, we find it critical for us to come together as a community to co-create a future towards harmony.
Our day is structured to guide us through reflection and release, followed by receiving insights and information. This connection to source will be open for all participants to continue working with the energy until the day of the Solstice on June 21st, 10:58 a.m. EST, during which participants are invited to sit in a brief meditation to experience the collective work within each of us.
Facilitated by the three Japanese Witches of MINKA (in English!), we offer the following in this day-long ceremony for your renewal
Free healing circles for AAPI
with Melissa Soong and Fumiha Tanaka
Attendees can attend all three or just one or two as they wish.
Nourishment: April 16th, Fri 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST
Courage: April 30th, Fri 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST
Action: May 14th, Fri 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST
This space will be somewhere we can share our feelings safely and to navigate this healing path together. On each circle, we will focus on theme, Nourishment, Courage, and Action. From what I’ve been hearing is that people are exhausted over the past month. When the situation seems to require us to stand up for each other and ourselves, overwhelming emotions, shock, and feelings of fear would tire us and lose us on which direction to go. Miso in Love With You: Creating Dialogue with Microorganisms Through Miso
Host by Herban Cura
Miso has been a Japanese staple food for centuries. Miso is made using Koji, Aspergillus Oryze, which is also used to create other important traditional Japanese foods such as soy sauce, mirin, and sake. In this knowledge share, we will explore the intimate dialogue we can create with Koji, this sacred living mold that has been protected and handed down over generations from our ancestors. Fumiha will introduce ways to use Koji in everyday life and teach how to make miso with Koji at home. Resource package is available if you would like to make miso alongside the knowledge share.

Unlearning… Let’s Talk
Herbalists Olatokunboh Obasi and Fumiha Tanaka would like to create a digital space to hold discussions about our current state of affairs. This is a critical time of opportunity and transformation.
We feel with our unique and diverse backgrounds, we have tools to facilitate this unprecedented process.
Join us to open up, to talk on an impromptu platform where everyone can share experiences, perspectives and be led to learn or unlearn what may no longer serve.
We will serve as guides to take the conversation through thought provoking realms to achieve insight and healing.
This event is for everyone. Please come with open heart.
The event will be for about two hours.
This will not be recorded.
